Kids Mask Making Program

Saturday, September 18th at 10:00 AM
Put on your creative caps and join us for an artistic project of animal safari mask making! Using paper, markers, and natural materials, transform yourself into a special endangered species. This 45 minute program is for children ages 5 and up. $5.00 per person, reservations required as class size is limited.


Autumn Equinox Full Moon Night Hike

Quogue Wildlife Refuge- Full Moon HikeThursday, September 23rd at 7:00 pm
September’s full moon is known as the Corn Moon. Celebrate the beginning of the fall season with a nighttime hike through the forest up to North Pond as we look and listen for nocturnal creatures, and enjoy some night vision activities under the light of the Corn Moon. The walk will last approximately 1 ½ hours. Reservations required 24 hours prior, space is limited. A program for adults and families with children over 11. Free for members, $5.00 for non-members.


Family Hike & Paddle on Old Ice Pond

width="150"Sunday, September 26th 11:00 AM until 3:00 PM
A great day to explore the beauty of the Refuge by both land and water. Join us for a guided hike on the trails to learn about the native plants and animals and then take yourself on a paddle to explore autumn foliage surrounding Old Ice Pond! Guided nature walk will be at 11:00 AM. Kayaks & canoes will be available to use on the pond between 12 PM and 3:00 PM. Space is limited so reserve early. A free program for adults and families.

Kids Photo Safari

Saturday, October 2nd at 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM
Put on a safari hat & join staff for a guided exploratory hike to photograph some of the flora and fauna at the Refuge. A safari hat will be given to each child to keep. Bring a camera! This program is for children ages 8 and older. $5.00 per person. Reservations required as space is limited.


Halloween Volunteer Meetings

Friday, July 9th at 10:00 AM
Adults, families, and teens over 16 who are interested in volunteering during any of our Halloween Programs must contact Marisa to discuss ideas, interests, and the Refuge’s spooky needs! It is mandatory that everyone participating fill out a volunteer application. Please call to arrange a meeting, to fill out an application, or with any questions! .



17th Annual Spooky Walk

Friday October 22nd AND Saturday, October 23rd 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM
Dare to hike the dark and haunted Refuge trails to meet the ghouls and goblins that take them over! A wicked time for all! The guided walks last approximately forty minutes. The earlier walks book up first, so please reserve early! For adults and families with children over 7. Reservations required, call to reserve a time slot. $10.00 per person.


Enchanted Forest Trail

Sunday, October 24th AND Saturday, October 30th 12:00 PM to 2:30 PM
Follow your guide to meet whimsical, fun, and educational characters on the forest trails. The parking lot will be full of games and activities! Come and join the fun! Dress up if you like! Children ages 2 to 7 with adult. Reservations required, call to reserve a time slot. $7.00 fee per person.




Family Pumpkin Carving

Thursday, October 28th 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM
Come to the front lawn of the Refuge for some good old-fashioned carving!  Choose a pumpkin from our patch or bring one of your own!  A program for adults and families.  Reservations Required.
Free for members and $5.00 per person for non-members.

Annual Seed Sale Fundraiser

Saturday and Sunday, November 6th and 7th 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Start the winter off with plenty of seed! The birds will thank you all winter long! Please have your order form in by October 29th. This is a fundraiser for Eastern Long Island Audubon Society and for the Quogue Wildlife Refuge. Order forms will be available at the Quogue Wildlife Refuge, as well as on the following websites in October: www.quoguewildliferefuge.org and www.easternlongislandaudubonsociety.org.



Animal Pinch Pots

Thursday, November 11th at 11:00 AM - 11:45 AM
Create your own whimsical pinch pot made of air dry clay in the shape of your favorite animal or creature.  Put a creative twist on the oldest form of Native American ceramics.  Ages 7 to adult.  $10.00 per person, $7.00 for members.  Reservations required as class size is limited .



Turkey Time

Saturday, November 20th at 10:30 AM
Gobble, Gobble – It is almost that time again! Meet a live turkey named Camille! Come to the Refuge to learn all about turkeys and then join us in the nature center for a fall craft. The program will end with a short hike to an oak tree, a favorite food source for turkeys! A free program for children ages 4 and up.

World Village Fair Trade Holiday Shopping

Saturday, November 27th 10: 30 AM to 2:00 PM
Get into the holiday spirit by browsing, purchasing, and learning about fair trade items.  Nice folks from the World Village Fair Trade Market, a member of the Fair Trade Federation, will be in the Nature Center with beautiful handcrafted gift items from all over the world that will be for sale.  Every dollar you spend helps support the village artisans and farmers who produce the products you purchase as they receive a ‘fair price’ for their hand-crafted goods.  Come and learn about how important it is to buy fair trade products and enjoy some guilt free holiday shopping!  Fair Trade coffee & tea will be brewed for your enjoyment.
