Deer Resistant Gardening

Join Garden Designer and presenter Beverly Rood of Remsenburg for an informative session on various ways to cope with deer in your garden. Beverly has been in the garden business for over twenty years, and will include in her discussion which plants have worked in her gardens as this recent gardening topic is becoming very popular. A free lecture for adults. Reservations requested.
Dwarf Pines Hike

Celebrate spring with an educational walk up to the northern part of the Refuge to visit the globally rare dwarf pines. Learn about the typical flora and fauna of the Pine Barrens as well as the importance of this habitat on Long Island. A free program for adults. Reservations required.
Earth Day Celebration

Come and celebrate nature and our lovely planet at the Refuge during this all day affair! The day will include guided nature walks, live animal presentations, crafts for children, exhibitors, and self guided kayaking or canoeing on Old Ice Pond. This celebration is offered by Quogue Wildlife Refuge and Eastern Long Island Audubon Society. A great day for all ages!
Gardening for Wildlife

Join Suzanne Ruggles, The Barefoot Gardener, for a wonderful program on attracting wildlife to your garden. Suzanne practices native habitat gardening to restore the earth by working with Nature to promote diversity, beauty and harmony in the landscapes she co-creates with Nature. Her work approach to "landscaping" is a more holistic and spiritual relationship with the environment than tradition landscaping. Suzanne is a regular instructor at The Nature Lyceum for Organic Horticulture and sits on the Board of Directors for The Wildlife Rescue Center of the Hamptons. A free program for adults. Reservations requested.

Hummingbird Feeder Craft

Learn all about our tiny avian friends, check out some real hummingbird nests, and then make your own hummingbird feeder to take home and hang in your yard. Invite native ruby throated hummers to your yard with this homemade feeder! Please bring an empty plastic bottle with cap. Reservations required. Free for members, $3.00 for non members. Reservations required. A program for children ages 6 to 12.
Full Moon Night Hike
Tuesday, May 20th at 7:30 PM
Lions and tigers and bears? No way. Peepers and woodcocks and owls, oh my! Each exploration at the Refuge is different, and one never knows what Mother Nature will present. Join us for a hike up to North Pond as we look and listen for nocturnal creatures, and enjoy some night vision activities. The walk will last approximately 1½ hours. Reservations required 24 hours prior. A free program for adults and families with children ages 11 and older.
